2.5 Year Old Program

Curriculum Goals

This “pre-preschool” program has been designed with our youngest learners in mind. Children will have the opportunity to socialize with other 2.5 year olds in a group setting just for them! The low teacher/student ratio will allow endless opportunities for growth and development.

Social/Emotional Development

  • Social Engagement in solitary and parallel play
  • Introduction to sharing and empathizing with others
  • Adjusting to being away from parents for short periods of time
  • Participation in small group activities

Self-Care/Responsibilities

  • Washing hands with limited assistance
  • Progression with toileting skills
  • Choosing from several activity options with limited assistance
  • Beginning to participate in clean up
  • Gaining a foundation for classroom behavior

 
 

Language Skills

  • Communicating and sharing ideas/feelings with peers and teachers
  • Enhancing vocabulary through language acquisition, activities, pretend play and storytelling

 
 

Fine Motor Development

  • Large focus on pincer grasp/activities which strengthen hand and finger muscles
  • Experimenting with various tools such as pencils, crayons, paintbrushes, etc. . .
  • Working with puzzles

 

Cognitive Development

  • Counting
  • Observing and asking questions
  • Naming colors and simple shapes
  • Beginning to recognize name in print
  • Naming body parts
  • Investigating the world around them

 

Physical Development


  • Outdoor play which includes running, climbing, sliding, ball play, and pedaling a bike
  • Indoor play in gym
  • Dancing and music/movement activities
